Product Description
QUANTEC® PL-468 is a low dosage, higher performance plasticiser specifically formulated for use with vibration intensive, rapid de-mould mix processes.
QUANTEC® PL-468 gives optimum workability and compaction under intense vibration, while maintaining mix cohesion and dimensional stability of the demoulded product.
QUANTEC® PL-468 combines the effects of a powerful dispersing action with a cohesion aid to produced optimum results from the vibration/compaction cycles found in block, brick and tile manufacturing processes. This ensures that the cement is more evenly distributed, maximising hydration and strength potential, producing a denser, stronger unit with a more uniform texture with a smoother cement rich appearance.
QUANTEC® PL-468 is formulated from a carefully selected blend of both synthetic and naturally derived raw materials and is manufactured under carefully controlled conditions, to produce a highly consistent product.
Advantages
- Increased strengths (15% - 30%)
- Reduced curing period / steam curing costs
- Improved responsiveness to vibration
- Faster production cycle
- Improved surface finish and texture
- Sharper edge detail
- Reduced breakage rate
- Improved colour uniformity – especially pigmented mixes
- Better cement economies (of 10-25%) at same or better strength
Typical Properties
Appearance |
Light amber liquid |
Specific Gravity (20ºC) |
1.019 |
Air Entrainment |
Minimal in semi-dry |
Freezing Point |
0ºC |
Typical Uses
- Concrete blocks - including natural/light weight or artificial aggregates,in both static/mobile production systems - air cured, steam cured, autoclaved
- Concrete brick presses
- Paving block production
- Concrete tile manufacture
- Most concrete/cementitious systems involving low workability mixes and vibration intensive/press production methods
Method of use
QUANTEC® PL-468 is supplied ready for use and should be added to the mix at the same time as the mix water. QUANTEC® PL-468 may be used in all zero or low slump concretes where improved compaction is beneficial.
Overdosing in semi-dry mixes will yield a more plastic mixture, resulting in problems with edge slumping of cast masonry units or slight retardation of set and strength development.
Addition Rates
Range |
125 ml - 325 ml per 100 kg cement |
For best results, it is recommended that QUANTEC® PL-468 performance first be assessed in preliminary tests using the actual mix constituents. This will help determine the optimum dosage. |

Compatibility
With Cements:
QUANTEC® PLC-468 can be used with all types of Portland cement, including cement replacement materials.
For use with special cements we recommend that you consult GCP Applied Technologies.
With Other Admixtures:
QUANTEC® PL-468 should not be pre-mixed with other admixtures to addition to the mix. The performance of the admixture may be affected by the presence of other chemicals, and we recommend that GCP be consulted in such circumstances.
Dispensing
It is preferable that liquid admixtures for concrete should be introduced into the mixer by means of automatic dispensing equipment.
Packaging
QUANTEC® PL-468 is supplied in 205 litre non-returnable containers.
Alternatively, bulk deliveries can be arranged.
