Plasticiser for Semi-Dry Mixes

Product Description

DBM® X7 is a liquid admixture, designed for use in semi-dry mixes, specially favoured in the block paving industry. It is formulated from a blend of carefully selected synthetic and natural raw materials, and is manufactured under controlled conditions to give a consistent product.

Compatibility with Cements

DBM X7 can be used with all types of Portland cements including cement replacement materials, fly ash, silica fume, etc.

Compatibility with other Admixtures

DBM X7 should not be premixed under any circumstances with other admixtures. While some admixtures can be usefully combined within the same mix the performance of this product may well be affected by the presence of other chemicals and we recommend that GCP Applied Technologies be contacted for advice in all such circumstances.

Advantages

  • Improved early age handling
  • Allows reduction in cement content
  • Improved compaction
  • Reduced permeability absorption
  •  Improved pigmented performance

Storage Life in Bulk Storage:

Addition Rates

The performance of DBM X7 is best assessed after preliminary tests on site, to determine the optimum dosage and effect on compressive strength, water absorption, etc.

As a guide to these trials, an addition rate of 0.5%–1.0% DBM X7 by weight of cement is recommended.

Effects of Overdosing

Serious overdosing of DBM X7 will generally produce an increase in workability and cohesion of the mix, which could cause slumping particularly within semi-dry mixes.

Dispensing

It is preferable that liquid admixtures for concrete should be introduced into the mixer by means of automatic dispensing equipment. Details are available on request.
