BITUSTIK™ BT
Double sided, self adhesive, cold applied, waterproofing tape for membrane detailing and sealing.
Description
BITUSTIK™ BT is a flexible self adhesive tape coated on both sides with a high adhesive butyl rubber compound reinforced with a polyester mesh, to provide excellent adhesion to most building substrates. It is fully compatible with GCP waterproofing membranes.
Applications
- General purpose, double sided waterproof sealing strip for nonexposed applications
- For use as a detailing aid with BITUTHENE®, PREPRUFE®, HYDRODUCT® and GCP Protection boards or as a bedding strip for SERVISEAL® waterstops.
Installation
Minimum application temperature +5°C.
For application on concrete: surfaces must be smooth, clean and dry. Use BITUTHENE® Primer S2 applied evenly by roller or brush to improve adhesion, particularly on dusty substrates, and allow to dry.
For application on SERVISEAL® PVC waterstops, PREPRUFE®, BITUTHENE® membranes, HYDRODUCT® drainage or GCP Protection: wipe the area with a damp cloth to ensure the area is clean and free from dust, and allow to dry.
BITUSTIK™ BT is simply applied by peeling away the silicone release paper and applying one side of the adhesive face to the prepared substrate and roll firmly to ensure complete adhesion without creases or voids. Roll ends and cut edges should be overlapped 50 mm minimum and rolled firmly to ensure a watertight seal.
Once the first adhesive face has been applied and rolled, peel off the second release paper and apply the other material (SERVISEAL® PVC waterstops, PREPRUFE® or BITUTHENE® membranes, HYDRODUCT® drainage or GCP Protection) and roll firmly to ensure complete adhesion.
For vertical application with Serviseal® at temperatures below +10°C, propping might be necessary every 1-2m to maintain a good bond until concrete pour.
