BETEC® PLUG
Quick setting, cementitious, waterproof plugging compound for stopping flowing/seeping water entry into sub-structures
Description
BETEC® Plug is a single-component quick-setting, waterproofing plugging compound supplied in 10 kg plastic buckets. When mixed with water, a plastic, highly workable mortar is formed which can be applied by hand to plug leaks in concrete and masonry structures.
Applications
- Sealing leaking cracks/joints in concrete surfaces.
- Plugging water leaks in masonry structures.
- Sealing leaks in horizontal/vertical joints.
- Bonding steel fixings/brackets to concrete.
System Components
- BETEC® Plug - Quick setting, cementitious waterproof plugging compound.
- BETEC® Flex - flexible cementitious waterproofing slurry.
- BETEC® Seal - cementitious waterproofing slurry.
- BETEC® NSM Mortars - cementitious mortars for repair/levelling of substrates prior to the application of BETEC® FLEX/Seal.
Advantages
- Can be applied directly to wet surfaces
- Strong bond – will not be washed away under active water pressure
- No efflorescence
- No steel corrosion

Application
Storage:
Store in a cool dry place, in original packaging and use within 12 months. Protect against damage by frost if stored at low temperatures.
Substrate Preparation:
Remove all shutter release agents, bitumen, oil, grease, dirt, loose and degraded material, chase out all honeycombed/damaged concrete to a minimum depth of 30 mm. Rake out all leaking cracks and joints to form a minimum 30 mm x 30 mm chase.
All substrates should be pre-wetted with clean water to saturate the surface. Minimum average tensile strength of prepared substrate = 1.5 N/mm2.
Mixing:
BETEC® PLUG has a workability time of less than 1 minute at 20°C, so do not mix until you are ready to use the product. Suggested maximum quantity for mixing is O.5 kg. Water addition is 0.16 litres per kg of BETEC® PLUG. Use part mixes to avoid wastage. Add the powder to the water and mix by hand for approx 15 seconds.
Use lukewarm water in cold weather and cold water in warm weather.
Application:
Apply immediately by hand (only when wearing protective rubber gloves) or by trowel. Work the material quickly into the area to be plugged and hold firmly in place until the mortar sets. Do not move the mortar during the setting phase.
At horizontal/vertical joints form a 45° fillet.
When using BETEC® PLUG for steel fixings, drill a hole at least 20 mm diameter bigger than diameter of the fixing and of sufficient depth to support the fixing. Fill the hole fully with BETEC® PLUG and push the fixing into place centrally. Temporarily support the fixings until the mortar has fully set.
